Frequently Asked Questions
Parking
Ample parking is available on site in the well-lit asphalt parking lot of the school.
Registration
Our registration table is located immediately inside the front door of the school. All pre-registration packets are held at the desk for pick up. A separate table will be provided for at-door registration completion. Cash or checks will be gladly accepted.
Attire
- The Friday night dance is semi-casual. Some dancers prefer to wear their square dance finery; others prefer to dress in casual attire.
- Saturday morning and afternoon workshops and dances are casual.
- All dancers are encouraged to wear their square dance best for the Saturday evening dance.
Seating
We are able to provide a large number of padded chairs in the gym for your seating between tips. Unfortunately, we cannot provide enough chairs for everyone – please be willing to share your chair when it’s not being used. Bleacher seating is also available in the gym. Tables and chairs will be provided in the cafeteria.
Refreshments
Complementary water and coffee will be available in the cafeteria. We request that only water in closed containers be brought into the gym, with its lovely wood floor. Fresh, ripe peaches will be available in the cafeteria on Friday and Saturday nights, free of charge, for your enjoyment. You are welcome to bring outside food into the cafeteria, which is immediately inside the front door.
Pre-register drawing
There will be a drawing for free entrance to next year’s dance. Registrations must be received by August 15, 2025 to be eligible.
Lodging
- Please see the Hotels (coming spring 2025) page for a list of hotels that feature promotional rates.
- Dry camping is not available on site. We’re working on getting that changed. There are a number of excellent RV parks in and around Grand Junction.
Dining
There are many restaurants along the Business 70 loop near the dance. Please see the Food (coming spring 2025) page for a list of restaurants that will be offering discounts to dancers.
Peaches for sale
Just a short drive away from the dance, the orchards of Palisade provide the world’s best peaches. Talbott’s Orchards helps to sponsor our dance by providing ripe peaches for you to eat on Friday and Saturday nights. Please look in your registration packet for a coupon offering a discount for dancers to purchase peaches at their orchard, either in small or large quantities.
Silent Auction
Items for the silent auction are contributed by members of our western slope dancer community; auction proceeds support square dancing in western Colorado. Auction items will be on display Friday and Saturday. The auction will close after the third tip on Saturday evening. All items must be picked up by the end of the dance at 10 PM. Cash or check payments only, please.
50/50 drawing
Separate 50/50 drawings will be held on Friday and Saturday nights. The drawings will be announced at the end of the fourth tip each night. All proceeds from the drawing support square dancing in western Colorado. Cash or checks will gladly be accepted.
